I should have known. This week has been good, but mostly because I see myself as having a decent sense of humor. It's been the type of week where the world is Lucy and I'm Charlie Brown running to kick the football. I fell for it. Every. Time. On the bright side Meghan got some points this week, everybody needs the friend that says "yeah I'd leave that alone". Even though I didn't listen and got slammed, I still appreciate that she gave me sincere advice. Not too many friends like that these days.
ANYway I woke up this morning after an interesting Friday night, with that familiar super hungry/super thirsty feeling that comes right after certain Friday nights. I went to McDonald's with the intention of getting a large orange juice and a large coffee, but there was a huge line because it looked like someone punched out the screen that you look at when you place your order. Did I mention that I love NP?
So I went to Dunkin Donuts, still hoping for a juice, but was swayed by the great product photography of the new apple cider. I ordered an iced cider and a large iced coffee. The first impression of the cider is that it really does taste like cider. It's more in the aftertaste that you realize that something isn't quite right. It doesn't taste BAD, but it's so loaded with cinnamon that it's almost like they're trying to hide something. And did I ask for cinnamon? I asked for cider. It also tasted sweeter than normal cider, and without the "bite" that comes with real cider. It's like someone who's never had cider had someone describe it to them and then took it in to a lab to build the perfect cider substitute.
Anyway, it's not bad, but it's not good. If anything, I think their cider offerings may actually boost the business of local orchards because that was completely unsatisfying and now I'm craving the real thing, for enjoyment and comparison purposes. Also, I'm not sure if I just drank it too fast, but now I feel kinda sick. How much sugar is in this stuff?
